5th Grade Booktalks (Podcasts):
Students learned how to use a podcasting program called Audacity, which allowed them to record themselves reading their booktalk and add music or sound effects to enhance their presentation. Students used keyword-searching skills to locate images and sounds, and critical thinking skills to determine the best mix of music or sounds to set the mood for their booktalks. Students also employed good writing skills and oral presentation skills (fluency). Finally, this project allowed students to have the experience of writing and presenting for a larger audience, with the goal of persuading listeners to read their book.
